This model is, in essence, the infrastructure for the growing movement towards Software-Defined systems. And according to analyst firm IDC, Nutanix is shaping up to be one of the major players in this new and growing service delivery platform model, with a 52 percent share of the market. The implications of this are quite significant, if only because the Nutanix hyperconverged software and hardware systems are examples of what mainstream, mainstay business applications will need to run on if they are to have a future. The company is currently going through the final stages of certification on an implementation of SAP, which has been running now for the last couple of months. A year ago Dheeraj Pandey, CEO of Nutanix, suggested to Dennis Howlett that he hoped to see an SAP system running on Nutanix systems within the year.
